Rain Valentine is a software engineer at AWS working on Valkey's core data structures and performance. Her contributions include a B+ tree ordered index for sorted sets, improvements to the core hashtable, and more compact string storage — plus benchmarking and performance characterization across ARM, AMD, and Intel platforms. Rain skipped grad school partly to avoid writing papers and giving presentations, so it's kind of funny that people keep recruiting her for blog posts and putting her behind a podium.
